Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the committee resumed its study of projects of high frequency rail between Quebec City and Toronto, between Calgary and Banff, and between Calgary and Edmonton.

Marco D'Angelo, Michel Leblanc, Jennifer Murray, Mario Péloquin and Jean Lamarche made statements and, with Rita Toporowski and Graham Cox, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Mark Strahl gave notice of the following motion:

That the committee undertakes a five meetings-study to review the impact of the carbon tax on the transportation in place of Canadians and the Minister of Transport appears on this matter and the committee find the additional resource to accommodate these meetings.

The question: "That the proposed budget in the amount of $28,500, for the study of Bill C-33, An Act to amend the Customs Act, the Railway Safety Act, the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992, the Marine Transportation Security Act, the Canada Transportation Act and the Canada Marine Act and to make a consequential amendment to another Act, be adopted" was put and was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 2.

At 5:36 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
