Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the committee commenced its study of top talent, research and innovation.

Thomas Bell, Jonathan Desroches and David Wolfe made statements and answered questions.

At 7:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 7:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Shiri Marom Breznitz, Alice Aiken and Céline Poncelin de Raucourt made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee undertakes a study of big science in Canada through travel in the fall of 2022 to Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory, SNOLAB, TRIUMF, Canada Light Source, and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, focusing on how previous funding has been used, and how future investment can help advance the research efforts of these leading Canadian Institutions.

At 9:21 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
