Pursuant to the order of reference of Tuesday, December 7, 2021, the committee commenced its study of gun control, illegal arms trafficking and the increase in gun crimes committed by members of street gangs.

The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:14 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Commr Brenda Lucki, D/Commr Stephen White, John Ossowski, Kellie Paquette and Rob Stewart, answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, December 16, 2021, the committee commenced its study of proposed regulations amending certain regulations made under the Firearms Act.

Motion

Pam Damoff moved, — That, on Monday, June 21, 2021, the Government of Canada tabled proposed Regulations Amending Certain Regulations Made Under the Firearms Act, in both Houses of Parliament, as required by Section 118 of the Firearms Act, which were referred to this committee on the same day for a period of up to 30 sitting days; and that the committee instruct the Chair to report the firearms regulations referred by the Minister of Public Safety on Monday, June 21, 2021, to the House unamended at the earliest opportunity.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Paul Chiang, Pam Damoff, Alistair MacGregor, Ron McKinnon, Kristina Michaud, Taleeb Noormohamed, Sameer Zuberi — 7;

NAYS: Raquel Dancho, Dane Lloyd, Doug Shipley, Tako Van Popta — 4.
