Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, January 31, 2022, the committee commenced its study of Canada's exports of environmental and clean technology goods and services.

Daniel Dufour made a statement and, with Amanda Wilson and Anna van der Kamp, answered questions.

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, January 31, 2022, the committee resumed its study on the Canada–United States relationship and its impacts on the electric vehicle, softwood lumber and other sectors.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $3,975, for the study of the Canada–United States relationship and its impacts on the electric vehicle, softwood lumber and other sectors, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $2,025, for the study of the modernization of the Canada–Ukraine Free Trade Agreement, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the committee undertake a study on trade opportunities for Canadian businesses in the Indo-Pacific, with a focus on emerging economies for example Vietnam, Indonesia and other ASEAN members as well as India and Taiwan; that as part of this study, the committee study the Objectives of Negotiations tabled recently in the House of Commons on a potential Canada-Indonesia Agreement and on a potential Canada-ASEAN Agreement; that the committee hold a minimum of six meetings for this purpose, which could include travel; and that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House.

It was agreed, — That, regarding the study on the modernization of the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement and further to the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, January 31, 2022, the committee expand the study to include an examination of the possible economic repercussions on countries standing in solidarity with Ukraine that could result from comprehensive sanctions on Russia, and measures Canada can take to improve trade with those nations while offsetting those effects.
