Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, May 30, 2022, the committee resumed its study of global food insecurity.

Tyler McCann, Raymond Orb and Gunter Jochum made statements and answered questions.

At 5:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:39 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Kathleen Sullivan, Stephen Paul and Jim Beusekom made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee commence clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-234 on Monday, November 14, 2022.

It was agreed, — That the members of the committee submit to the clerk all of their proposed amendments to Bill C-234 no later than noon on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

It was agreed, — That the last day to hear from witnesses on the global food insecurity study be November 16, 2022; that the first hour of the meeting be devoted to hearing from witnesses; and that the second hour of the meeting be devoted to providing drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

It was agreed, — That upon the referral of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2022-23 to the committee, the committee invite the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food to appear before the committee.

It was agreed, — That the committee send a second invitation to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship to appear before the committee for questioning on the processing delays and ongoing issues regarding the temporary foreign workers programs; and that the Chair report back to the committee on the Minister’s response.

At 6:36 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
