The committee resumed consideration of the motion moved by Greg McLean, on Friday, February 5, 2021, which read as follows:
That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study of the cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline including (a) the loss of jobs and investment across Canada in all sectors that supply the energy sector, (b) the impact the cancellation of this project will have on the economic recovery from COVID-19 of Canada’s energy sector/natural resource industry; that the committee invite relevant witnesses, including representatives of industries and workers affected, as well as the Minister of Natural Resources; that the Minister appear for not less than two hours; that these meetings be televised; that six meetings be allocated for this study; and that following this study a report with recommendations be presented to the House.
And of the amendment moved by Mario Simard, on Friday, February 19, 2021, which read as follows:
That the motion be amended by adding after the words “natural resource industry” the words “, (c) the energy transition to meet the challenges of the climate crisis and the achievement of Canada’s environmental targets;”.
It was agreed, — That the debate be adjourned and the committee resume consideration of the amendment during the last 15 minutes of today’s meeting.

Dane Lloyd moved, — That the amendment be amended by replacing the words “, (c) the energy transition to meet the challenges of the climate crisis and the achievement of Canada’s environmental targets;” with the words “, (c) the impact of the pipeline cancellation on Canada’s contribution to meeting the world’s environmental targets;”.
After debate, the question was put on the subamendment of Dane Lloyd and it was negatived on the following recorded division:
YEAS: Dane Lloyd, Greg McLean, Jeremy Patzer, Bob Zimmer — 4;
NAYS: Richard Cannings, Paul Lefebvre, Bryan May, Ken McDonald, Maninder Sidhu, Mario Simard, Patrick Weiler — 7.
The question was put on the amendment of Mario Simard and it was negatived on the following recorded division:
