Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, May 12, 2021, the committee commenced consideration of Bill C-253, An Act to amend the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (pension plans and group insurance plans).

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

Motion

Sébastien Lemire moved, — That the committee proceed immediately to the clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-253 as referred by the House on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, without hearing witnesses.

Debate arose thereon.

At 11:53 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Amendment

Pierre Poilievre moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “without hearing witnesses” with the words “after three full meetings of witness testimony”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Pierre Poilievre and it was agreed to.

By unanimous consent, the motion, as amended, was withdrawn.

Questioning of the witness resumed.

At 12:25 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:33 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, November 5, 2020, the committee resumed its study of accessibility and affordability of telecommunications services.

The committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

At 1:02 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
