The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Ryan Turnbull moved, — That, as the next order of business, the committee undertake a study on social innovation and social finance, outlining how these strategies can contribute to building a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economy as we look towards economic recovery, and that this study shall take no less than six meetings.

Debate arose thereon.

Raquel Dancho moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Colin Carrie, Louise Chabot, Raquel Dancho, Corey Tochor, Brad Vis — 5;

NAYS: Han Dong, Leah Gazan, Wayne Long, Ryan Turnbull, Adam Vaughan, Kate Young — 6.

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion of Ryan Turnbull, — That, as the next order of business, the committee undertake a study on social innovation and social finance, outlining how these strategies can contribute to building a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economy as we look towards economic recovery, and that this study shall take no less than six meetings.

The debate continued.

Amendment

Adam Vaughan moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “six meetings” with the words “three meetings; and that the study be followed by a study on guaranteed basic income for three meetings, followed by a study on the impact of COVID-19 on the financial, social, health and overall wellbeing of seniors for three meetings, followed by a study proposed by the Bloc Québécois member”.

Debate arose thereon.

Corey Tochor moved, — That the committee do now adjourn.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Colin Carrie, Louise Chabot, Raquel Dancho, Leah Gazan, Corey Tochor, Brad Vis — 6;

NAYS: Han Dong, Wayne Long, Ryan Turnbull, Adam Vaughan, Kate Young — 5.
