Motion

Richard Bragdon moved, — That the chair, parliamentary secretary and Liberal Party committee members request an audience with the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard tomorrow to ask her to permanently rescind the reinterpretation, and that the Liberal members report back to the committee on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Marilène Gill moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words "permanently rescind the reinterpretation" with the words “rescind the reinterpretation for the 2021 season”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Marilène Gill and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Marilène Gill — 1;

NAYS: Mel Arnold, Jaime Battiste, Terry Beech, Richard Bragdon, Blaine Calkins, Serge Cormier, Ken Hardie, Gord Johns, Dan Mazier, Robert J. Morrissey — 10.

On motion of Robert J. Morrissey, it was agreed, — That the committee ask the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard to provide clarity on this season's regulation to industry as urgently as possible in order to provide certainty for this year's season.
