Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, March 12, 2021, the committee resumed its study of Canada’s international trade and investment policy: selected considerations concerning COVID-19 vaccines.

Stephen de Boer made a statement and, with Steve Verheul, Mark Schaan and Darryl C. Patterson, answered questions.

At 2:16 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:24 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, October 23, 2020, the committee resumed its study of Canada’s international trade after COVID-19: changes, federal supports for exporters and trade agreement priorities.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Canada and International Trade: An Interim report concerning the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond”.

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than noon on Monday, May 10, 2021.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, October 23, 2020, the committee resumed its study of trade between Canada and the United Kingdom: a potential transitional trade agreement.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Trade Between Canada and the United Kingdom: A Potential Transitional Trade Agreement and Beyond".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than noon on Monday, May 10, 2021.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee hold an additional meeting on its study of Canada’s international trade: considerations concerning COVID-19 vaccines; that for this meeting, the committee reinvite, for an hour, officials who appeared on its Friday, April 30 meeting; that for the second hour, the committee invite up to one witness per party; and that notwithstanding its routine motion adopted on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, each organization be allocated five (5) minutes for their opening remarks.

At 3:01 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
