Special Committee to Continue Study on Hong Kong

Ottawa, October 26, 2020 -

In the 1st Session of the 43rd Parliament, the Special Committee on Canada–China Relations examined the situation in Hong Kong. It has decided to continue and complete that examination during the 2nd Session. As part of its overall study of Canada–China relations, the Special Committee is considering recent developments in Hong Kong in relation to the “one country, two systems” framework, including the impact of the National Security Law imposed on Hong Kong, as well as the broader context of China’s domestic and foreign policies. Organizations and individuals who wish to provide their views and comments to the Special Committee are invited to submit a written brief through the Clerk. The deadline for written submissions is 13 November 2020 at 5 p.m. eastern standard time.
