The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee meet in camera for the following purposes only: (a) to discuss administrative matters, including witness selection, meeting schedule and meeting location, (b) to review draft reports, (c) to hold briefings related to national security, (d) to hear witness testimony when necessary for the witness’ protection, privacy, confidentiality or safety; and that the committee may meet in camera for any other reason by majority decision of its members.

It was agreed, — That members be given until Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at noon to electronically submit to the clerk their list of suggested witnesses for the consideration of Bill C-5, An Act to amend the Judges Act and the Criminal Code; that the selection of these witnesses and the number of meetings to be held on this matter be made at the meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2020.

It was agreed, — That the planning of work on Bill C-7, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (medical assistance in dying), be discussed at the meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2020.

It was agreed, — That the possible re-adoption of two committee reports presented to the House during the First Session of the 42nd Parliament be discussed at the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

It was agreed, — That one hour be set aside at meetings scheduled for the week of March 9, 2020, to discuss studies that the committee could undertake alongside its legislative priorities.

It was agreed, — That, when the 2020-2021 Main Estimates are referred to the committee, the Minister of Justice and relevant officials be invited to appear before the committee on the matter; that this meeting be televised, if services are available.

At 12:24 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
