Don Davies moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on the development of a national dental care program as an insured service for Canadians; that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.
Debate arose thereon.
Robert Kitchen moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “for Canadians;” the words “that the committee allocate no more than six meetings to receiving evidence from witnesses;".
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Robert Kitchen and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 6.
After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 0.
Tamara Jansen moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on palliative care in Canada; that the committee allocate no more than two meetings to this study; that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.
Debate arose thereon.

Luc Thériault moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words "study on palliative care in Canada" with the words "comparative study of Canada and countries where palliative care and assisted dying are offered, with a particular focus on availability and accessibility”.
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Luc Thériault and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 4.
After debate, by unanimous consent, the motion, as amended, was withdrawn.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 1.
Luc Thériault moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on why or why not assisted dying should be extended to patients suffering from mental illness; and that the committee hear all relevant experts and stakeholders in order to do an in-depth study on the subject and submit its conclusions and recommendations to the House.
Debate arose thereon.
It was agreed, — That the debate be adjourned until Monday, February 24, 2020.
