The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.

It was agreed, — That pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development on February 4, 2016, the Subcommittee study the current human rights situation of the Rohingya in Myanmar, paying particular regard to the issues of women’s and children’s rights, forced labour and extortion, freedom of expression and religion, freedom of mobility, residence and citizenship rights and access to public services.

It was agreed, — That, the appropriate departmental officials from Global Affairs Canada be invited to appear before the Committee on Thursday, May 21, 2016, concerning the study on the current human rights situation of the Rohingya in Myanmar.

It was agreed, — That members submit their lists of witnesses for the study on the current human rights situation on the Rohingya in Myanmar to the Chair and the office of the clerk .

It was agreed, — That pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development on February 4, 2016, the Subcommittee invite witnesses to update the members on its 2015 study into the human rights situation in Honduras entitled, “Overcoming Violence and Impunity: Human Rights Challenges in Honduras” and that the Subcommittee hold two meetings on this study.

It was agreed, — That the president of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Luis Florido, be invited to appear on May 10, 2016.

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee hold two meetings on the human rights situation in Iran.

At 1:46 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
