Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, Octobre 23, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of secondary supply chain products in the forestry sector in Canada.

Paul Kariya, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Gordon Murray, by videoconference from Richmond Hill, Ontario, and Ning Yan made statements and answered questions.

At 5:16 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:17 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Natural Resources extend its current study of secondary supply chain products in the forestry sector to explore:

  1. the connections between the "traditional" forestry industry and innovators who are seeking to capitalize on new markets and technology innovations, with a focus on the supply of forest resources and demand for advanced forest bioproducts and services;
  2. the possible role for the federal government in developing the bioeconomy in Canada.

At 5:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
