Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a) and the motions adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 4, 2016, Thursday, February 18, 2016 and Tuesday, February 23, 2016, the Committee commenced a study of the Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments

The Minister made a statement and, with Ian McCowan, answered questions.

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:10 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, the Committee considered caucus reports in connection with its study of initiatives toward a family-friendly House of Commons.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, the informal briefing with Elections Canada be rescheduled to Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee undertake a study of the Main Estimates 2016-17: Vote 1 under House of Commons, Vote 1 under Parliamentary Protective Service and Vote 1 under Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 23, 2016; and that witnesses be invited to appear for one hour on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in connection with Vote 1 under House of Commons and Vote 1 under Parliamentary Protective Service.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, the Committee set aside one hour during its meeting on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, to consider witness lists in connection with its study of initiatives toward a family-friendly House of Commons.

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion moved by Scott Reid, on Thursday, February 25, 2016, — That the federal members of the Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments be invited to appear before the Committee before the end of March 2016, to answer all questions relating to their mandate and responsibilities.

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
