Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(iii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 2, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of the use of Indigenous languages in proceedings of the House of Commons.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

At 12:13 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:18 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to sit in public.

At 12:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:20 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

It was agreed, — That future versions of the draft report in relation to the Committee’s study of the use of Indigenous languages in proceedings of the House of Commons be distributed to Romeo Saganash, M.P.

It was agreed, — That the Committee consider the draft report in relation to the study of the use of Indigenous languages in proceedings of the House of Commons for one hour on Thursday, May 31, 2018, and for one hour on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, the Committee invite all Members of the House of Commons who are not members of a recognized party to a confidential and in camera briefing concerning the content of the confidential report of the Subcommittee on the Code of Conduct for Members of the House of Commons: Sexual Harassment; and that the briefing be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

It was agreed, — That, during the second hour on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, the Committee consider a notice of motion from Blake Richards.

It was agreed, — That the Committee consider Bill C-76, An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act and other Acts and to make certain consequential amendments, on Monday, May 28, 2018, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; that the Hon. Karina Gould, Minister of Democratic Institutions, be invited to appear from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and that departmental officials who accompany her be invited to stay until 6:00 p.m.; that the Committee consider future business from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; and that the Chief Electoral Officer be invited to appear from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

It was agreed, — That members submit their preliminary lists of witnesses for the study of Bill C-76, An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act and other Acts and to make certain consequential amendments, by end of day on Tuesday, May 29, 2018; and that the final lists of witnesses be submitted by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018.

At 1:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
