Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 the Committee commenced its study of Canada's Abilities to Defend Itself and our Allies in the Event of an Attack by North Korea on the North American Continent.

Mark Gwozdecky and Stephen Burt made statements and, with Sarah Taylor, answered questions.

At 10:58 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:01 a.m., the sitting resumed.

LGen St-Amand and MGen Seymour made statements and, with MGen Al Meinzinger, answered questions.

At 12:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:00 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Michael Byers, Danny Lam, Colin Robertson and Robert Huebert, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, made statements and answered questions.

At 2:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:06 p.m., the sitting resumed.

James Fergusson, Peggy Mason, Andrea Charron, by videoconference from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Andrea Berger, by videoconference from London, England, made statements and answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

On motion of Mark Gerretsen, it was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $14,700.00, for the study of Canada's Abilities to Defend Itself and our Allies in the Event of an Attack by North Korea on the North American Continent be adopted.

At 2:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
