     Good morning, everybody.
    We have a lot to accomplish today. This part of the meeting, just as a reminder, will be in public.

Mr. Yves Robillard (Marc-Aurèle-Fortin, Lib.):
    Mr. Chair, an intern is spending this week in my office as part of an activity related to one of her university courses, and I would like to ask for unanimous consent to let her stay with us during the in camera portion of the meeting.

The Chair:
    Do we have unanimous consent?

Mr. Mark Warawa (Langley—Aldergrove, CPC):
    Could you have him repeat it again, please?
The Chair:
    Sure.

Mr. Yves Robillard:

    Okay? Very good. Excellent.
    First on our agenda is the election of a vice-chair.
    Mr. Ruimy.
Mr. Dan Ruimy (Pitt Meadows—Maple Ridge, Lib.):
    I nominate Madame Sansoucy.
    Can I do that?
The Clerk of the Committee (Mrs. Julie Geoffrion):
    Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the second vice-chair must be a member of an opposition party other than the official opposition. I am now prepared to receive motions for the second vice-chair.
Mr. Dan Ruimy:
    I nominate Madame Soucy....Sansoucy.
    An hon. member: That makes a big difference.
    Mr. Dan Ruimy: I know.
    Some hon. members: Oh, oh!
The Clerk:
    It has been moved by Mr. Ruimy that Ms. Sansoucy be elected as the second vice-chair of the committee.
     Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    Some hon. members: Agreed.
    (Motion agreed to)

    I declare the motion carried and Ms. Sansoucy duly elected second vice-chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!

Ms. Brigitte Sansoucy (Saint-Hyacinthe—Bagot, NDP):
    I just want to thank you for your confidence.
    It is my pleasure to accept this responsibility, especially as I have been able to participate in your committee's work over the past few months. I know that everyone here, from the chair to the members, to all the support staff—be they clerks or analysts—is committed to improving the conditions and quality of life of their fellow citizens.
    So I hope the government will take into consideration the recommendations that will arise from our future business.
