Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, January 30, 2018, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill S-5, An Act to amend the Tobacco Act and the Non-smokers’ Health Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

Ginette Petitpas Taylor made a statement and, with James Van Loon, answered questions.

At 6:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 6:40 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Marc Kealey and Sherwin Edwards made statements and, with Boris Giller, answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

On motion of Marilyn Gladu, it was agreed, — That the Committee consider the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2017-18 and the Interim Estimates 2018-19 on Monday, March 19, 2018; and that the Minister of Health, along with department officials, be invited to answer questions.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the receipt of proposed amendments to Bill S-5, An Act to amend the Tobacco Act and the Non-smokers’ Health Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, be Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at noon for all Members.

On motion of Marilyn Gladu, it was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 11,700, for the study of Bill S-5, An Act to amend the Tobacco Act and the Non-smokers’ Health Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, be adopted.

At 7:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
