The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.
Pursuant to Standing Order 75(1), consideration of the Preamble and Clause 1 (Short Title), is postponed.
The Chair called Clause 2.
On Clause 2
Sonia Sidhu moved, — That Bill C-277, in Clause 2, be amended by:
(a) replacing lines 21 and 22 on page 1 with the following:
care providers, develop a framework designed to support improved access for Canadians to palliative care — pro-
(b) replacing lines 11 to 19 on page 2 with the following:
(f) takes into consideration existing palliative care frameworks, strategies and best practices.
(2) The Minister must initiate the consultations referred to in subsection (1) within six months after the day on which this Act comes into force.
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Sonia Sidhu and it was agreed to.

On Clause 4,
Doug Eyolfson moved, — That Bill C-277, on page 2, be amended by replacing the heading before Clause 4 and, in Clause 4, lines 27 to 33 with the following:“State of Palliative Care in Canada
4 (1) Within five years after the day on which the report referred to in section 3 is tabled in Parliament, the Minister of Health must prepare a report on the state of palliative care in Canada, and cause the report to be laid before each House of Parliament”
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Doug Eyolfson and it was agreed to.

ORDERED, — That the Chair report the Bill, as amended, to the House.
ORDERED, — That Bill C-277, as amended, be reprinted for the use of the House at report stage.
Sonia Sidhu moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee dedicate at least three meetings, by December 2018, to study anti-diabetes strategies in Canada and in other jurisdictions; that, in relation to this study, the Parliamentary Budget Officer provide a cost analysis on the current fiscal impact of diabetes and future projected costs to the Canadian healthcare system; and that the Committee report its findings to the House.
Debate arose thereon.
It was agreed, — That the motion be amended by replacing the the words “the Parliamentary Budget Officer provide a cost analysis on the current fiscal impact of diabetes and future projected costs to the Canadian healthcare system” with the words “the analysts provide the Committee with information regarding the fiscal impact of diabetes in Canada based upon currently available research and data”.
It was agreed, — That the motion, as amended, be adopted.
The motion, as amended, read as follows:
That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee dedicate at least three meetings, by December 2018, to study anti-diabetes strategies in Canada and in other jurisdictions; that, in relation to this study, the analysts provide the Committee with information regarding the fiscal impact of diabetes in Canada based upon currently available research and data; and that the Committee report its findings to the House.
It was agreed, — That the Chair, in consultation with the Clerk of the Committee, prepare a schedule of meetings and that it be distributed to the members of the Committee.
At 12:11 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
