Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, December 12, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the Oceans Act’s marine protected areas.

Larry McKinney, Paul Lansbergen and Sabine Jessen, by videoconference from Washington, D.C., made statements and answered questions.

At 10:03 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:06 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of commercial fishing vessel length policy, one meeting with officials, two meetings with witnesses and one meeting for instructions to the analysts be alloted.

It was agreed, — That, when the Supplementary Estimates (C), 2017-18 are referred to the Committee, the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard be invited to appear.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study examining the current state of Department of Fisheries and Oceans' small craft harbours, and that the Chair shall be empowered to coordinate the necessary witnesses, resources and scheduling to complete this task.

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
