Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of violence against young women and girls in Canada; and
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2017-18: Vote 1b under Office of the Co-ordinator, Status of Women, referred to the Committee on Thursday, October 26, 2017.
The Chair calls Vote 1b under Office of the Co-ordinator, Status of Women.
The Minister made a statement and, with Gina Wilson and Anik Lapointe, answered questions.
At 12:07 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 12:11 p.m., the sitting resumed.
Gina Wilson, Anik Lapointe, Justine Akman and Nancy Gardiner answered questions.
Vote 1b under Office of the Co-ordinator, Status of Women, carried on division.
ORDERED, — That the Chair report Vote 1b, under Office of the Co-ordinator, Status of Women, to the House.
Sheila Malcolmson moved, — That, should they not have agreed to appear by Thursday, December 14, 2017, the Chair of the Committee send a letter to the department of Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada requesting the appearance of officials to provide information and answer questions as part of the Committee’s study on Indigenous women in the federal justice and correctional systems.
After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 0.
It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 29,000, for the study of Indigenous women in the federal justice and correctional systems, be adopted.
At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
