Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, November 14, 2016, the Committee commenced its study of the economic security of women in Canada.

Justine Akman, Lucie Desforges, Andrew Heisz made statements and, with Anne Milan answered questions.

At 9:43 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:47 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Shereen Benzvy Miller, Doug Murphy, Andrew Brown and Drew Leyburne made statements and answered questions.

Committee Business
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee commence clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-309, An Act to establish Gender Equality Week, on Thursday, February 23, 2017; and that the Committee continue to sit until all proceedings required to report the Bill to the House have been completed.

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Status of Women to share her mandate at the first opportunity.

At 10:41 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
