Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of violence against young women and girls in Canada.

Anuradha Dugal, by videoconference from Montréal, Quebec, and Dawn Moore made statements and answered questions.

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Gabrielle Ross-Marquette, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, Maïra Martin and Julie Lalonde made statements and answered questions.

At 5:23 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:23 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the fourth report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

Your Subcommittee met on Monday, October 3, 2016, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That, in relation to its study on Violence Against Young Girls and Women, representatives from Twitter and the Saffron Centre be invited to appear before the Committee; and that others wishing to appear be invited to submit a written brief for the Committee’s consideration.

2. That, after hearing from all scheduled witnesses in relation to its study on Violence Against Young Girls and Women, one meeting be scheduled for the purpose of providing drafting instructions to the analyst.

3. That the draft report in relation to its study on Violence Against Young Girls and Women be considered after the winter adjournment period.

4. That, after the meeting providing drafting instructions to the analyst, a further meeting of the full Committee be scheduled to consider Committee Business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee analyst draft a letter to the Speaker in support of the initiative to light the Peace Tower purple, as well as a letter of thanks to the organization spearheading the initiative.

At 5:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
