The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Tenth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

Your Subcommittee met on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That the Committee invite Ann Bernes, Ambassador for Gender Equality and Coordination for the Feminist Foreign Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sweden, to appear before it on Thursday, March 9, 2017.

2. That the Committee invite Rand Sukhaita, the Turkey Country Director for the Darna Centers to appear before it on Thursday, March 9, 2017.

3. That the Committee hold meetings with experts to give them detailed information on the process of studying the Main Estimates.

4. That the Chair forward the draft letters that have been prepared, to the Chairs of the United States House of Representatives and Senate Foreign Affairs Committees, inviting them to hold a joint meeting in Ottawa.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the situation in Eastern Europe and Central Asia 25 years after the end of the Cold War.

Piotr Dutkiewicz and Chris Westdal made statements and answered questions.

At 9:44 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Samuel Charap by videoconference from New York, New York and Anders Aslund by videoconference from Washington, D.C., made statements and answered questions.

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
