Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h)(vi) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

The witness, by videoconference from Rome, Italy, made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:01 p.m., Nathaniel Erskine-Smith took the Chair.

At 1:12 p.m., Blaine Calkins took the Chair.

At 1:25 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:26 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the Committee defray the hospitality expenses related to working meals and receptions to be held during its travel to Washington, D.C., United States in the Fall of 2017, and that the Clerk of the Committee be authorized to purchase gifts to be presented during the Committee’s travel.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the Committee’s travel to Washington, D.C., United States for its study of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the parties submit to the Clerk of the Committee a list of individuals and organizations they wish to meet, as soon as possible.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $9,200.00, for the study of the Privacy of Canadians at Airports, Borders and Travelling in the United States, be adopted.

At 1:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
