Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Friday, March 29, 2019, the Committee resumed its study of the official notices of non-compliance from China for exports of Canadian canola seeds.

Stephen Vandervalk, William Gerrard and Mark Kaun made statements and answered questions.

At 11:11 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

At 11:18 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 12:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:24 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pierre Murray, William Van Tassel, Mehgin Reynolds and Terry Youzwa, by videoconference from Nipawin, Saskatchewan, made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Luc Berthold moved, — That, in light of today's testimony's stating that this is also a political issue, the Committee invite the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food to appear before the Committee on the canola crisis, and that the meeting be televised.

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The Chair ruled the proposed motion inadmissible as it is the same in substance as one motion already decided in the same session and is not sufficiently different as to constitute a new question.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 1:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
