The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met in camera at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Ed Komarnicki, Hoang Mai, David J. McGuinty, Larry Miller, Isabelle Morin, Mike Sullivan, Lawrence Toet and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Stella Ambler for Wai Young and Chungsen Leung for Wai Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Zachary Alaoui, Analyst; Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Transport: Laureen Kinney, Assistant Deputy Minister, Safety and Security; Martin J. Eley, Director General, Civil Aviation; Luc Bourdon, Director General, Rail Safety; Nicole Girard, Associate Director General, Transport Dangerous Goods.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, November 18, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the review of the Canadian transportation safety regime: transportation of dangerous goods and safety management systems.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 8:52 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:54 a.m., the sitting resumed in a public and televised session.

 

Laureen Kinney, made a statement and, with Martin J. Eley and Luc Bourdon, answered questions.

 

At 10:15 a.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 10:27 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
