The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 8:52 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Kelly Block, Blaine Calkins, Joan Crockatt, Linda Duncan, Ryan Leef, Hon. Geoff Regan and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Tyrone Benskin for Christine Moore, Jamie Nicholls for Chris Charlton and Andrew Saxton for Joan Crockatt.

 

Associate Members present: Ted Opitz.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Milana Simikian, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Europe Round Table for Business: Jason Langrish, Executive Director. Petroleum Services Association of Canada: Mark Salkeld, President and Chief Executive Officer. Pieridae Energy Ltd.: Alfred Sorensen, President and Chief Executive Officer. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland: Anna Barbarzak, Acting Director, Economic Cooperation Department; Stanislaw Cios, Minister-Counselor, International Energy Cooperation, Economic Cooperation Department ; Tomasz Kijewski, Expert, Economic Cooperation Department; Grzegorz Kozlowski, Director, American Department; Beata Slonimska, Expert, American Department.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 10, 2014, the Committee commenced its study of the opportunities for Canada to contribute to energy security in Ukraine and the rest of Europe.
 

Jason Langrish, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, Mark Salkeld, by videoconference from Edmonton, Alberta, Alfred Sorensen, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, and Anna Barbarzak, by videoconference from Warsaw, Poland, made statements and, with Stanislaw Cios, by videoconference from Warsaw, Poland, answered questions.

 

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
