The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Kelly Block, Blaine Calkins, Joan Crockatt, Linda Duncan, Peter Julian, Ryan Leef, Christine Moore, Hon. Geoff Regan and Brad Trost.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Milana Simikian, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Conference Board of Canada: Michael Burt, Director, Industrial Economic Trends. Canadian Energy Pipeline Association: Brenda Kenny, President and Chief Executive Officer. Alberta Federation of Labour: Gil McGowan, President. Atlantica Centre for Energy: Colleen Mitchell, President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, December 9, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the cross-Canada benefits of developing the oil and gas industry of the energy sector.
 

Brenda Kenny, Michael Burt, Colleen Mitchell, by videoconference from Saint John, New Brunswick, and Gil McGowan, by videoconference from Edmonton, Alberta, made statements and answered questions.

 

Blaine Calkins moved, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 33,400, for the study of Cross-Canada Benefits of Developing the Oil and Gas Industry of the Energy Sector, be adopted.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 4.

 

At 10:50 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
