The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in a televised session at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Joe Preston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Christopherson, Kevin Lamoureux, Alexandrine Latendresse, Tom Lukiwski, Dave MacKenzie, Joe Preston, Scott Reid, Blake Richards and Craig Scott.

 

Acting Members present: Corneliu Chisu for Ted Opitz, Joan Crockatt for Ted Opitz, Hon. Laurie Hawn for Ted Opitz and LaVar Payne for Dave MacKenzie.

 

Associate Members present: Frank Valeriote.

 

Other Members present: Marc Garneau.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Andre Barnes, Analyst; Martha Butler, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Pierre Poilievre, P.C., M.P., Minister for Democratic Reform; Hon. Andrew Scheer, M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, May 4, 2015, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-50, An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act.
 

The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:50 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:51 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite all Members of the House of Commons who are not members of a recognized party to a confidential and in camera briefing concerning the content of the confidential draft report on a Code of Conduct for Members; and that the said briefing be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015.

 

At 11:53 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:46 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2015-16: Vote 1 under HOUSE OF COMMONS, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 24, 2015; and
 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (A) 2015-16: Vote 1a under HOUSE OF COMMONS, referred to the Committee on Thursday, May 14, 2015.
 

The Chair called Vote 1 and 1a under HOUSE OF COMMONS.

 

The Speaker made a statement and, with Marc Bosc and Mark G. Watters, answered questions.

 

At 1:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
