The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room C-160, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Diane Ablonczy, Mark Adler, Jay Aspin, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Anne-Marie Day, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, Hon. Gordon O'Connor and Bernard Trottier.

 

Acting Members present: Lois Brown for Jim Hillyer and Mathieu Ravignat for Pat Martin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lindsay McGlashan, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: University of Sheffield: Joanne Bates, Lecturer in Information Politics and Policy, Information School. Université de Montréal: Lyne Da Sylva, Associate Professor, School of Library and Information Science. Open Data Institute: Richard Stirling, International Director. Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development: Barbara-Chiara Ubaldi, E-Government Project Manager, Reform of the Public Sector Division, Public Governance and Territorial Development Directorate.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(ii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 13, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the government's open data practices.
 

Richard Stirling, by videoconference from Oxford, United Kingdom, Barbara-Chiara Ubaldi, by videoconference from Paris, France, Joanne Bates, by videoconference from Sheffield, United Kingdom, and Lyne Da Sylva made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
