The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 268, The Valour Building, the Chair, Mike Wallace, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Françoise Boivin, Sean Casey, Bob Dechert, Robert Goguen, Ève Péclet, Mike Wallace and David Wilks.

 

Acting Members present: Blaine Calkins for Patrick Brown, Ed Komarnicki for Kyle Seeback and Philip Toone for Pierre Jacob.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst; Dominique Valiquet, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Victimes d'agressions sexuelles au masculin : Alain Fortier, President; Frank Tremblay, Vice-President. As an individual: Joanne Jong. Criminal Lawyers' Association: Howard Krongold, Member of the board of directors, Chair of the Legislation Committee. Chiefs of Ontario: Karen R. Restoule, Director, Justice Sector. London Abused Women's Centre: Megan Walker, Executive Director. Nishnawbe Aski Nation: Harvey Yesno, Grand Chief.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Friday, June 20, 2014, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-32, An Act to enact the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights and to amend certain Acts.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee allow one hour to the study on the Proposals for a Miscellaneous Statute Law Amendment Act, 2014, at its meeting on Thursday, November 20, 2014; and

That the Committee undertake the clause-by-clause study of Bill C-32, An Act to enact the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights and to amend certain Acts on Tuesday, November 25, 2014.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
