The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Tarik Brahmi, Brad Butt, Jim Eglinski, Sadia Groguhé, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman and Cathy McLeod.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Scott Brison for Rodger Cuzner and Robert Chisholm for Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Caroline Quesnel, Analyst; Shauna Troniak, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Fourth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

That the Committee study Social Finance’s potential for unlocking new sources of capital to improve social and economic outcomes for Canadians; that the study hear from a variety of stakeholders, such as governments, businesses, not-for-profits, charities and foundations on ways to best implement, design and encourage a framework for social finance in Canada; that the Committee begin this study with a briefing from departmental officials; that at least eight meetings be scheduled for this study in Winter 2015; that Committee business referred by the House such as Government legislation, private members’ legislation or Estimates take precedence in scheduling over this study; that the Committee finalize its report to be tabled in the House in Spring 2015.

That, in relation to its study of Social Finance, the Committee travel to London, United Kingdom, during Spring 2015, and that the Clerk, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a budget for travel.

 

At 3:43 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
