The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Vice-Chair, Jinny Jogindera Sims, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Tarik Brahmi, Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Sadia Groguhé, Larry Maguire, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Cathy McLeod and Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Isabelle Lafontaine-Émond, Analyst; Édison Roy-César, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Mowat Centre: Matthew Mendelsohn, Director. Automotive Industries Association of Canada: Marc Brazeau, President and Chief Executive Officer; Robert Pitt, Chairman, Board of Directors. Engineers Canada: Kim Allen, Chief Executive Officer. Caledon Institute of Social Policy: Michael Mendelson, Senior Scholar.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the renewal of the Labour Market Development Agreements (LMDA).
 

Matthew Mendelsohn, Marc Brazeau and Robert Pitt made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:44 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Kim Allen and Michael Mendelson made statements and answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent, on motion of Larry Maguire, it was agreed, — That Michael Mendelson be permitted to finish his statement.

 

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
