The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Tarik Brahmi, Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Sadia Groguhé, Larry Maguire, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Cathy McLeod and Jinny Jogindera Sims.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee resumed consideration of the Main Estimates 2014-2015: Vote 1 under CANADA INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS BOARD, Vote 1 under CANADA MORTGAGE AND HOUSING CORPORATION, Vote 1 under CANADIAN CENTRE FOR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY and Votes 1 and 5 under EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 27, 2014.
 

The Chair called Vote 1 under CANADA INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS BOARD.

 

Minister Leitch made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the renewal of the Labour Market Development Agreements (LMDA).
 

Monique Moreau and Cammie Peirce, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:31 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:33 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee request that the Department of Employment and Social Development provide an analysis of what it has done or plans on doing to improve labour market information to ensure accurate and relevant information, as well as specifically explain what recommendations have not been implemented and why, from the 2009 Labour Market Information Panel chaired by Don Drummond.

 

At 10:37 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
