The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room C-120, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Libby Davies, Hon. Hedy Fry, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Wayne Marston, Dany Morin, Isabelle Morin and David Wilks.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Diane Ablonczy for Earl Dreeshen and Jay Aspin for Joy Smith.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Pharmacists Association: Mark Barnes, Pharmacy Manager and Owner, Westboro Pharmasave, Respect Rx Pharmasave; Phil Emberley, Director, Pharmacy Innovation. National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities: Carole Bouchard, Executive Director. Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association: Colin D'Cunha, Director Global Medical Affairs, Apotex Inc.; Jim Keon, President. Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario: Irwin Fefergrad, Registrar, chief executive officer; David Mock, Professor; Peter Trainor, President. Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada: Rocco Gerace, President; Louise Marcus, Director, Professional Affairs.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the Government's role in addressing prescription drug abuse.
 

Peter Trainor, Irwin Fefergrad, David Mock, Phil Emberley, Mark Barnes, Rocco Gerace, Jim Keon and Carole Bouchard made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
