The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 228, The Valour Building, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Cathy McLeod, Christine Moore, Murray Rankin, Lawrence Toet, David Wilks and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Wayne Easter for Hon. Hedy Fry and Isabelle Morin for Matthew Kellway.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Cancer Society: Robert Nuttall, Assistant Director, Cancer Control Policy; Rob Cunningham, Senior Policy Analyst. As individuals: Natasha Leighl, Associate Professor, Lung Site Lead, Division of Medical Oncology, Princess Margaret Cancer Center, University Health Network, University of Toronto; Paul Wheatley-Price, Medical Oncologist, The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre; Jason R. Pantarotto, Radiation Oncologist, Chief of Radiation Oncologoy Program, The Ottawa Hospital; Jacques Ricard; Stephen Lam, Chair, Provincial Lung Tumor Group, British Columbia Cancer Agency; Diana Ionescu, Oncological pathologist, Department of Pathology, British Columbia Cancer Agency.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 28, 2015, the Committee commenced its study of lung cancer in Canada.
 

Paul Wheatley-Price, Natasha Leighl and Robert Nuttall made statements and, with Rob Cunningham, answered questions.

 

At 4:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Stephen Lam and Diane Ionescu, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, and Jason R. Pantarotto and Jacques Ricard made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:16 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 5:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
