The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Rodney Weston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Robert Chisholm, Ryan Cleary, Patricia Davidson, Randy Kamp, Ryan Leef, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Robert Sopuck, Kennedy Stewart, John Weston and Rodney Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Rob Clarke for Ryan Leef.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Thai Nguyen, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance: Ruth Salmon, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, December 5, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the potential benefits and challenges of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) for Canadian Fisheries.
 

Ruth Salmon made a statement.

 

At 3:38 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:40 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Ruth Salmon resumed her statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:46 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of the potential benefits and challenges of the Canada–European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) for Canadian fisheries, the proposed budget in the amount of $52,018.55, for the Committee’s travel to St. John's, Newfoundland, in Winter-Spring 2014, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of the potential benefits and challenges of the Canada–European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) for Canadian fisheries, the proposed budget in the amount of $56,940.55, for the Committee’s travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, in Winter-Spring 2014, be adopted.

 

At 5:16 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
