Honourable members of the committee, I see a quorum. We can now proceed to the election of the chair. Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the chair must be a member of the government party.
I'm ready to receive motions for the chair.
    Ms. Brown.
    I nominate Dean Allison.
    Are there further motions?
Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    (Motion agreed to)
The Clerk: I declare the motion carried, and Mr. Allison duly elected chair of the committee.
Before inviting Mr. Allison to take the chair, if the committee wishes, we can now proceed to the election of the vice-chairs.
Can you do two at a time?
    The Clerk: One is better.
Mr. Gary Schellenberger: I'll nominate Mr. Dewar as vice-chair.
It has been moved by Mr. Schellenberger that Mr. Dewar be elected as first vice-chair of the committee.
Are there any further motions? Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    (Motion agreed to)
The Clerk: I declare Mr. Dewar first vice-chair of the committee.
The second vice-chair must be a member of an opposition party other than the official opposition.
    Mr. Schellenberger.
    I nominate Mr. Garneau.
Mr. Schellenberger moves that Mr. Garneau be elected as second vice-chair of the committee. Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt this motion?
    (Motion agreed to)
The Clerk: I declare the motion carried, and Mr. Garneau duly elected second vice-chair.
I'll invite Mr. Allison to take the chair.
I just want to know if we have unanimous consent to deal with future committee business.
    Some hon. members: Agreed.
The Chair: We'll go in camera for that.
