The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 306, The Valour Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Paul Dewar, Marc Garneau, Peter Goldring, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Hélène Laverdière, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and Bernard Trottier.

 

Acting Members present: Colin Carrie for Hon. Laurie Hawn and Dany Morin for Romeo Saganash.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; Brian Hermon, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Roll Back Malaria Partnership: Hon. Pierre Flambeau Ngayap, Representative, Senator, Cameroon Senate; Hervé Verhoosel, Representative to the United Nations in New York, Head of External Relations. Medicines for Malaria Venture: Andrea Lucard, Executive Vice-President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on Global Action Against Malaria.
 

Hervé Verhoosel, Pierre Flambeau Ngayap and Andrea Lucard made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:09 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:13 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $8,050, for the study Towards the Next North American Leaders' Summit, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $7,900, for the study of the Subcommittee on International Human Rights on the Human Rights Situation in Sudan, be adopted.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the Protection of Children and Youth in Developing Countries.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
