The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in a televised session at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Paul Dewar, Marc Garneau, Peter Goldring, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Romeo Saganash, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and Bernard Trottier.

Acting Members present: Christine Moore for Hélène Laverdière.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst ; Brian Hermon, Analyst.

Witnesses: Global Fund To Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria: Christoph Benn, Director, External Relations; Svend Robinson, Senior Advisor, Parliamentary Relations. As an individual: Martin C.M. Lee, Senior Counsel. Canada-Hong Kong Link: Gloria Fung, Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Christoph Benn made a statement and, with Svend Robinson, answered questions.

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:04 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, the Committee commenced its study of the situation in Hong Kong.

Martin C.M. Lee and Gloria Fung made statements and answered questions.

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
