Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics

NUMBER 031
l
2nd SESSION
l
41st PARLIAMENT

EVIDENCE

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

[Recorded by Electronic Apparatus]

  (1530)

[Translation]

Members of the committee, I see a quorum.

[English]

I must inform members that the clerk of the committee can only receive motions for the election of the chair. The clerk cannot receive other types of motions and cannot entertain points of order, nor participate in debate.

[Translation]

We can therefore proceed with the election of a chair.
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the chair must be a member of the official opposition.

[English]

I am ready to receive motions for the chair.
    Mr. Simms.
I would like to nominate Pierre-Luc Dusseault.

[Translation]

Mr. Simms moves that Mr. Dusseault be elected chair of the committee.

[English]

    Are there any further motions?
The committee has heard the terms of the motion. Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    Some hon. members: Agreed.
     (Motion agreed to)
Mr. Andrew Bartholomew Chaplin: I declare the motion carried and Monsieur Dusseault duly elected chair of the committee.

[Translation]

My thanks also go to the members of the committee for their trust.
I am pleased to be back at the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics, with colleagues I know. I have been the chair of the committee for a year and a half, and I am pleased to be back.
We have nothing on the agenda today. I will soon call a meeting to discuss the future business of the committee. I would ask that all the members start thinking about topics to be eventually studied by the committee.
If everything goes as planned, we can meet to discuss the future business.
Since no one has anything to add, I adjourn the meeting.
    (Meeting adjourned)
