The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in camera at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Gordon Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ray Boughen, Gordon Brown, Hon. Stéphane Dion, Rick Dykstra, Ted Falk, François Lapointe, Irene Mathyssen, Pierre Nantel and John Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Chungsen Leung for Jim Hillyer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst. House of Commons: Christine Holke David, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the proposed operational budget in the amount of a maximum of $2,300 for the Committee's study of Bill C-501, An Act respecting a National Hunting, Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2014, be cancelled.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite officials from the Department of Canadian Heritage to brief the Committee in relation to the study on the Canadian music industry at its first meeting after the break week of February 17, 2014.

 

It was agreed, — That the study on the Canadian music industry focus on the following three (3) themes: a) the federal government’s support for creators and entrepreneurs who create and distribute music in Canada; b) how government funding is allocated; and c) whether government support is meeting its objectives.

 

It was agreed, — That the meetings be divided into two (2) one-hour panels, and that each panel consist of no more than three (3) groups or individuals per hour and, that the opening remarks do not exceed eight (8) minutes per witness.

 

It was agreed, — That the Members submit their witness lists to the Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2014.

 

At 11:55 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
