The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Bev Shipley, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Earl Dreeshen, Hon. Mark Eyking, Randall Garrison, Randy Hoback, Pierre Lemieux, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Bev Shipley and Bob Zimmer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Alberta Federation of Agriculture: Lynn Jacobson, President; Humphrey Banack, Second Vice-President. Inland Terminal Association of Canada: Robert Chapman, Grain Manager, South West Terminal. Thunder Bay Port Authority: Tim Heney, Chief Executive Officer. Canadian National Railway Company: David W. Miller, Assistant Vice-President, Government Affairs. Canadian Pacific Railway: Michael Murphy, Vice-President, Government Affairs; Robert Taylor, Director, Government Affairs.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the Grain Logistics System in Canada.
 

Tim Heney, by videoconference from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Lynn Jacobson, by videoconference from Taber, Alberta and Robert Chapman, by videoconference from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, made statements and, with Humphrey Banack, by videoconference from Taber, Alberta, answered questions.

 

At 4:06 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

David W. Miller and Michael Murphy made statements and, with Robert Taylor, answered questions.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
