The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:33 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, David Christopherson, Pat Martin, Larry Miller, Joe Preston and Chris Warkentin.

 

Other Members present: Kevin Sorenson and Peter Stoffer.

 

In attendance: Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates: Marc-Olivier Girard, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development: Miriam Burke, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs: Cynara Corbin, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security: Andrew Bartholomew Chaplin, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst.

 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the request for reimbursement presented by Pat Martin regarding a witness who submitted her expense claim to the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates after the 60-day deadline be concurred in.

 

At 13:35 p.m.,David Christopherson took the Chair.

 

It was agreed, — That the request for reimbursement presented by Dean Allison regarding two witnesses who submitted their expense claim to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development after the 60-day deadline be concurred in.

 

At 13:36 p.m.,Dean Allison took the Chair.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs be granted a travel budget of $36,684.08 to travel to Washington, D.C., United States of America, in the Spring of 2013, for the purpose of inquiring about programs and benefits offered to veterans by Veteran organizations, Government and NGOs and to visit the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

 

At 13:40 p.m., David Christopherson took the Chair.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development be granted a travel budget of $50,804.10 to travel to Washington, D.C., United States of America, in the Spring of 2013, in relation to its study on the Organization of American States (OAS) and Canada's Engagement in the Americas.

 

At 13:42 p.m., Dean Allison took the Chair.

 

It was agreed, — That notwithstanding the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on March 6, 2013, concerning the travel budget of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security in some cities in United States, the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security be granted a travel budget of $69,038.50 to travel to San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California, United States of America, Calgary, Alberta, and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, in the Spring of 2013, in relation to its study on the Economics of Policing.

 

At 1:50 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
