The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Cheryl Gallant, Dan Harris, Hon. Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Hon. Geoff Regan, Kennedy Stewart, David Sweet and Mark Warawa.

 

Acting Members present: Stella Ambler for John Carmichael, Brad Butt for John Carmichael, Brian Masse for Glenn Thibeault and Deepak Obhrai for Phil McColeman.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Coastal.com: Gary Collins, President. Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec: Françoise Bertrand, President and Chief Executive Officer; François Morin, Chair, Information Technology Committee. Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters: Martin Lavoie, Director of Policy, Manufacturing Competitiveness and Innovation. Conference Board of Canada: Paul Preston, Associate Director, Innovation Policy.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the adoption of digital technology by Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises.
 

Françoise Bertrand and François Morin, by videoconference from Montréal, Quebec and Martin Lavoie made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Gary Collins and Paul Preston, by videoconference from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
