The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met in camera at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, John Carmichael, Cheryl Gallant, Dan Harris, Hon. Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Phil McColeman, Hon. Geoff Regan, Kennedy Stewart, David Sweet, Glenn Thibeault and Mark Warawa.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dillan Theckedath, Analyst ; Mathieu Frigon, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Konstantinos Georgaras, Director, Policy, International Affairs and Research Office, Canadian Intellectual Property Office; Agnès Lajoie, Assistant Commissioner of Patents, Canadian Intellectual Property Office; Sylvain Laporte, Commissioner of Patents, Registrar of Trade-marks and Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Intellectual Property Office; Denis Martel, Director, Patent Policy Directorate, Marketplace Framework Policy Branch ; Gerard Peets, Senior Director, Strategy and Planning Directorate, Marketplace Framework Policy Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, May 1st, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of the Intellectual Property Regime in Canada.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 5:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
