The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met in a televised session and by videoconference at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Peter Braid, John Carmichael, Cheryl Gallant, Peter Julian, Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Brian Masse, Phil McColeman, Hon. Geoff Regan, David Sweet and Glenn Thibeault.

Acting Members present: Corneliu Chisu for Rob Anders.

Associate Members present: Tarik Brahmi and Ted Hsu.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst ; Dillan Theckedath, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Independent Petroleum Marketers Association: Tricia Anderson, President and Chief Executive Officer; Allan MacEwen, Chairman of the Board, President, MacEwen Petroleum Inc.; David Collins, Executive Vice-President, Wilson Fuels. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, June 20, 2011, the Committee commenced its study of the fluctuation of gas prices.

Tricia Anderson, Mark Corey, Jeff Labonté, Peter Boag and Michael J. Ervin made statements and, with Allan MacEwen and David Collins, answered questions.

On motion of John Carmichael, it was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the fluctuation of gas prices, the proposed budget in the amount of $ 9, 100.00 be adopted.

At 5:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Mollie Johnson, Tom Huffaker, and the Hon. Dan McTeague made statements and, with Richard Bilodeau, answered questions.

Michael Greenberger, by videoconference from Washington, D.C., made a statement and answered questions.

At 6:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
